From 2003-2006, Zilla was a member of the experimental hip hop group Crooked Soul. In February ‘06, the group released their LP Break Bread & Nails. He then formed Beat Garden Entertainment with Big O and Nico the Beast in May ‘06.
Beat Garden, now the home of Triple Nickels, Alex Wood, and Yadibox.com, has released the debut LP Sometimes There is Trouble by Clean Guns (Aug. ‘06), Living in Harmony: The Mixtape by Clean Guns (March ‘07), Producer Series #1: Clean Guns = World Domination EP (Sept. ‘07), Beat Garden Presents The Yadibox.com Mixtape (Jan. ‘08), and No Beast So Fierce by Nico the Beast (April ‘08).
Zilla is currently working on his debut mixtape Bring Me the Head of Zilla Rocca!!! as well as his debut album Fall Back Friday , an LP crafted in the vein of Black Sheep, the Beatnuts, Camp Lo, and Kanye West.
Zilla is currently working on a free downloadble EP with Seattle-based singer/songwriter/producer Douglas Martin (aka Fresh Cherries From Yakima) under the group name 5 O’Clock Shadowboxers.
As a freelance writer, Zilla has contributed to 215hiphop.com, Souled On Music, 33jones.com, Magnaphone Magazine, and has a bi-weekly column called the Beat Generation at The Passion of the Weiss.
Zilla Rocca currently lives in Pennsauken, NJ but is a lifelong Philadelphian.
